Shine is a proudly minority-owned company that started its journey in the heart of New York City in 1974. Founded by Kyu Heung Park, Shine began as a small electronic appliance repair shop and through the founder and his son’s dedication, has grown into the business that it is today. Decades after its founding, Mr. Park’s son, Elliot, recognized the growth potential of mobile technology and seized the opportunity to reclaim used mobile handsets and accessories, refurbish these electronics, and redistribute them across the world before sustainability became a global priority. Elliot, who is now President and CEO of Shine, has taken the dream of his father and turned it into a major global distributor that specializes in new and used mobile handsets and accessories.
The company’s objective is to extend the life cycle of traded-in mobile devices by distributing them across the world. Today, Shine plays a pivotal role in meeting the tremendous demand for devices collected by the major US trade-in programs, forming strong partnerships with telecommunications carriers. It is the company’s desire to extend the lifecycle of mobile devices by fulfilling the needs of various markets while championing sustainability and using the latest modern automation systems to maximize the return on value.
